Calgary n'a jamais lâché.

Montreal Alouettes quarterback Davis Alexander threw five touchdown passes and crossed the 5,000-yard passing mark in the Thanksgiving Day Classic.

A busy Thanksgiving long weekend in the CFL. On Monday at Percival Molson Stadium, Davis Alexander threw five touchdowns and became the first Alouettes quarterback since Anthony Calvillo to reach 5,000 passing yards in a season, in a 44-24 win over Saskatchewan. On Friday in Hamilton, Edmonton exploded in the fourth quarter to secure its first home playoff game since 2015. The same night, Nathan Rourke and the Lions punched their playoff ticket against a still-winless Ottawa, and on Saturday Zach Collaros made a winning return in Winnipeg against Calgary. The Toronto Argonauts were on a bye.

Montreal Alouettes 44, Saskatchewan Roughriders 24

Davis Alexander is no longer just the quarterback of the East's best team: he is now walking in a legend's footsteps. With 403 yards and five touchdown passes, he became the first Alouettes quarterback since Anthony Calvillo to surpass 5,000 passing yards in a season.

The afternoon started badly, though. On the opening drive, Marcus Sayles picked off Alexander, setting up a Saskatchewan field goal. Alexander answered with a nine-yard strike to Tyler Snead, but Trevor Harris put the Riders back in front 10-7 with a 27-yard touchdown to Kian Schaffer-Baker.

That was the visitors' last lead. In the third quarter, Tyson Philpot made a diving catch on a 46-yard bomb to make it 24-16, and Charleston Rambo raced in for a 51-yard score. Snead added his second touchdown on a five-yard pass to make it 38-16, and Geoffrey Cantin-Arku intercepted Harris to set up a field goal.

Alexander completed 26 of 33 passes and ran three times for 40 yards. Jerreth Sterns led all receivers with eight catches for 124 yards, Rambo and Snead scored twice each, and Philpot remains the league leader in receiving yards. Harris finished with 243 yards, two touchdowns and an interception, reaching 5,000 yards for the second time in his career.

In front of a sellout crowd of 23,035, Montreal completed its regular-season home schedule without a loss, the third time in franchise history. Saskatchewan has now lost four straight and will not host a playoff game.

Records: Montreal 13-3 | Saskatchewan 8-8

Edmonton Elks 27, Hamilton Tiger-Cats 12

Three fourth-quarter touchdowns, and the Elks have locked up a home playoff game for the first time since 2015.

For three quarters, it was a punting duel: 18 punts in all, 10 of them by Edmonton. The Elks led 7-0 at the half on two field goals and a single from Vincent Blanchard, and Brad Hladik had recovered an Isaiah Wooden fumble on a punt return. Marc Liegghio cut the gap to 7-3 in the third quarter.

The game turned in the fourth. Cody Fajardo dove in from a yard out to make it 14-3, Liegghio answered with a 37-yard field goal, and then Zach Mathis intercepted a pass from punter Nik Constantinou on a fake punt and returned it 48 yards for a touchdown. Wooden bounced back by returning the ensuing kickoff for a score, but the two-point convert failed. After Hamilton turned the ball over on downs at its own 26, ShunDerrick Powell sealed it with a five-yard run.

Fajardo completed 16 of 25 passes for 229 yards, and Austin Mack caught five balls for 106 yards. For the Tiger-Cats, Harrison Frost went 21-of-36 for 221 yards, but he was sacked five times and his team committed three turnovers.

Edmonton swept the season series with Hamilton for the first time since 2017 and can clinch first place in the West by winning either of its last two games. At halftime, the Tiger-Cats inducted Troy Davis, the franchise's all-time rushing leader, into their Wall of Honour.

Records: Edmonton 12-4 | Hamilton 5-12

BC Lions 41, Ottawa Redblacks 20

Nine wins in 10 games after a 1-5 start: the Lions are officially in the playoffs. "Step one," linebacker Mathieu Betts said.

At BC Place, Nathan Rourke completed 25 of 31 passes for 360 yards and three touchdowns. Keon Hatcher Sr. opened the scoring on a 10-yard pass, and Zander Horvath made it 14-0 on an 11-yard run. Ottawa answered with a Daniel Adeboboye touchdown and four Paul Geelen field goals, pulling within 21-18 in the third quarter. Rourke was also intercepted for the first time in 131 attempts.

The Lions then took control again: Horvath scored his second touchdown from a yard out, and Jevon Cottoy caught an eight-yard pass. Kalil Pimpleton returned a convert attempt for two points for Ottawa, but James Butler closed the books with a 14-yard run.

Horvath finished with 89 yards on 14 carries, Butler had 76 rushing yards, and Stanley Berryhill caught six passes for 105 yards and a touchdown. McLeod Bethel-Thompson threw for 253 yards but was sacked five times.

B.C. has now won four straight. Ottawa, at 0-16, has lost 22 in a row dating back to last season and has two chances left to avoid a winless year.

Records: B.C. 10-6 | Ottawa 0-16

Winnipeg Blue Bombers 33, Calgary Stampeders 28

Zach Collaros had missed two games after a head injury in the Sept. 12 Banjo Bowl. In his return, he threw for 349 yards and two touchdowns, and the Bombers won a crucial game in the playoff race.

At Princess Auto Stadium, in front of 32,343 fans, Collaros found Ontaria Wilson from 18 yards out in the first quarter, then Nic Demski from 25 yards just before halftime for a 17-9 lead. Trey Vaval then returned the opening kickoff of the second half 88 yards for a touchdown.

Calgary never quit. Deonta McMahon scored twice, on a six-yard run and an eight-yard pass from Vernon Adams Jr., to pull the Stampeders within 24-22. But Sergio Castillo, who kicked four field goals on the day, made three of them in the fourth quarter. Quincy Vaughn scored on a one-yard run with 14 seconds left, but the two-point convert failed and Winnipeg recovered the onside kick.

Dorian Singer was the game's top receiver with five catches for 166 yards. Adams completed 29 of 43 passes, and Calgary won the time-of-possession and turnover battles but never led after the first quarter. Rene Paredes made three field goals but missed from 46 yards.

"Couldn't ask for a better day," Collaros said.

Records: Winnipeg 8-8 | Calgary 8-9

This Week's Standouts

Davis Alexander (403 yards, five touchdowns and the 5,000-yard mark), Zach Collaros (349 yards and two touchdowns in his return) and Zach Mathis (a 48-yard pick-six that broke the game open in Hamilton).

Where Things Stand After Week 19

In the West: Edmonton (12-4) has secured a home playoff game and can clinch first place with a win in either of its last two games. B.C. (10-6), winners of four straight, has also punched its ticket. Behind them, it is a three-team race for two spots: Winnipeg (8-8) and Saskatchewan (8-8) have two games left, Calgary (8-9) just one. Winnipeg and Calgary hold the tiebreaker over Saskatchewan, and the Bombers are in if they win their last two. With Hamilton eliminated, the fourth-place West team will cross over to take third place in the East.

In the East: Montreal (13-3) has finished first and will host the Eastern Final on Nov. 7. Toronto (9-7), on a bye this week, will hold second place. Hamilton (5-12) is eliminated and Ottawa (0-16) is still looking for its first win.

On tap for Week 20: Friday, Oct. 16, Winnipeg at Edmonton and Toronto at Ottawa; Saturday, Oct. 17, B.C. at Calgary and Montreal at Saskatchewan. Hamilton is on a bye.

An Alouettes quarterback in the 5,000-yard club, Elks who will host in the playoffs, Lions who don't lose anymore and a three-way race in the West: the home stretch is shaping up to be red-hot.
