Deux jours après une lourde défaite à Phoenix, le Seattle Storm a livré une prestation bien plus aboutie pour s’imposer 79 à 71 face aux Dallas Wings. Dans cette victoire à l’extérieur, un trio a brillé de mille feux : Nneka Ogwumike, Skylar Diggins-Smith et Gabby Williams, les trois leaders de la formation de Noelle Quinn.
Trois stars, trois styles, une même mission
Nneka Ogwumike a donné le ton dans la raquette avec un double-double magistral : 23 points et 18 rebonds, dont 16 défensifs. Présente à chaque rebond, elle a verrouillé l’accès au cercle et offert de nombreuses secondes chances à son équipe. Elle inscrit également une nouvelle page de l’histoire de la WNBA en devenant la troisième joueuse à atteindre 6 500 points et 800 passes en carrière, tout en restant d’une propreté rare (moins de deux balles perdues par match en moyenne).
À ses côtés, Skylar Diggins a parfaitement dirigé le jeu. Inspirée dès l’entame, elle distribue 7 passes dès la première mi-temps, dont plusieurs pour Ogwumike. Au final, elle boucle la rencontre avec 21 points et 9 passes, en ajoutant une adresse précieuse à longue distance (3/4 à trois points). Son sang-froid en fin de match, avec un lay-up décisif à 15 secondes de la fin, a scellé la victoire.
Enfin, Gabby Williams continue d’éblouir par sa polyvalence. Avec 17 points, 5 rebonds, 5 passes, 3 interceptions et 2 contres, la Franco-Américaine a brillé des deux côtés du terrain. Déjà précieuse offensivement, elle s’est surtout illustrée en défense en cadenassant Arike Ogunbowale, l’arme offensive numéro un des Wings. Grâce à son agressivité, son anticipation et son placement, Williams a considérablement limité l’impact de la star texane, qui n’a jamais pu trouver son rythme dans la rencontre.
Elle a par ailleurs franchi deux caps symboliques : sa 200e interception en carrière et son 200e panier sous le maillot du Storm. Elle a aussi égalé son record personnel de tirs à trois points en une mi-temps, et surtout, est devenue la première joueuse de l’histoire de la WNBA à cumuler plusieurs interceptions, contres et passes décisives en première mi-temps lors de ses deux premiers matchs d’une saison.
Une victoire référence pour lancer la saison
Après avoir mené de 17 points en première mi-temps, le Storm a vu Dallas revenir à -3 en fin de match, avant de faire la différence dans les moments clés, notamment grâce à un 8-0 salvateur en début de quatrième quart-temps. Ce succès repose sur l’alchimie évidente entre les trois leaders, chacune dans son rôle : Ogwumike à l’intérieur, Diggins à la baguette, Williams en électron libre défensif.
Ce trio, qui combine talent, expérience et agressivité, semble incarner la nouvelle identité du Storm. Une équipe capable de frapper fort avec ses cadres dès que la cohésion s’installe.

Just two days after a heavy defeat in Phoenix, the Seattle Storm bounced back with a much more convincing performance, securing a 79–71 road win against the Dallas Wings. At the heart of this victory, a trio shined brightly: Nneka Ogwumike, Skylar Diggins, and Gabby Williams, the three leaders of Noelle Quinn’s squad.
Three Stars, Three Styles, One Shared Mission
Nneka Ogwumike set the tone in the paint with a dominant double-double: 23 points and 18 rebounds, including 16 on the defensive end. Always in the right spot, she shut down access to the rim and gave her team multiple second-chance opportunities. And then there’s Gabby Williams, who continues to shine with her all-around impact. She tallied 17 points, 5 rebounds, 5 assists, 3 steals, and 2 blocks, showcasing her two-way brilliance. But her standout performance came on the defensive end, where she locked down Arike Ogunbowale, Dallas’ top scoring threat. With relentless energy, anticipation, and sharp positioning, Williams neutralized the Wings’ star, who struggled to find any rhythm throughout the contest.
Williams also reached two key milestones: her 200th career steal and her 200th field goal with the Storm. She tied her personal best for three-pointers made in a half, and most impressively, she became the first player in WNBA history to record multiple steals, blocks, and assists in the first half of each of her first two games in a season.
A Statement Win to Kick Off the Season
After leading by as much as 17 in the first half, Seattle saw Dallas close the gap to just three points in the final minutes. But the Storm responded in the clutch, with a decisive 8–0 run early in the fourth quarter. The win highlighted the clear chemistry between the team’s three stars: Ogwumike dominating inside, Diggins orchestrating the offense, and Williams anchoring the defense.
This trio, blending talent, experience, and intensity, is already shaping the Storm’s new identity. A team with the tools to strike hard when its leaders are in sync.
