VANCOUVER, Trevor Harris a livré une performance magistrale avec 395 yards par la passe et trois touchdowns, guidant les Saskatchewan Roughriders (5-1) vers une victoire de 33-27 contre les BC Lions (3-4) à BC Place samedi soir.

Un départ canon pour Saskatchewan

Rourke peine à trouver son rythme
Nathan Rourke, de retour dans la formation après avoir raté le premier affrontement entre ces équipes, a connu des difficultés en première demie. La domination se confirme en deuxième demie
Les Roughriders ont repris là où ils s'étaient arrêtés après la pause, avec Harris qui a trouvé Meyers pour son deuxième touchdown de la soirée sur une passe de 30 yards, portant l'avance à 30-11.
L'attaque de Saskatchewan a continué de rouler efficacement, alternant les courses d'Ouellette (72 verges au sol) et les passes précises de Harris. Un moment inquiétant s'est produit lorsqu'un porteur de ballon des Riders a été durement plaqué par le linebacker des Lions Micah Awe et a dû être évacué du terrain, recevant les applaudissements des fans des deux équipes, une belle preuve de fair play.
Une fin de match haletante
Les Lions ont tenté un retour désespéré en quatrième quart. Rourke a trouvé Stanley Berryhill pour un touchdown de 14 yards dans le coin gauche de la end zone, suivi d'une transformation à deux points spectaculaire où le quart a échappé au plaquage avec un spin avant de trouver à nouveau Berryhill sur une passe "sautée" de Rourke.
Cependant, une interception cruciale de Marcus Sayles a scellé le sort du match. Malgré un dernier touché des Lions avec 22 secondes au cadran, N. Rourke à A.Eberhardt pour 4 yards, suivi d'une transformation à deux points réussie par James Butler, les Roughriders ont récupéré le onside kick pour confirmer leur victoire. Les Lions ont montré de belles choses, mais certaines imprécisions, notamment sur des passes longues vers des receveurs démarqués auront coûté cher, malgré une belle remontée en fin de match.

Les Lions (3-4) accueilleront les Hamilton Tiger-Cats, deuxièmes de la division Est et vainqueurs de leurs trois derniers matchs. Saskatchewan recevra les Edmonton Elks dans leur quête pour maintenir leur position au sommet de l'Ouest.

VANCOUVER — Trevor Harris delivered a masterful performance with 395 passing yards and three touchdowns, leading the Saskatchewan Roughriders (5-1) to a 33–27 victory over the BC Lions (3-4) at BC Place on Saturday night.
The win keeps the Roughriders tied with Calgary (5-1) atop the West Division, while the Lions suffer their fourth loss of the season, their second at home in their last three games.
Fast Start for Saskatchewan
The Roughriders set the tone early. After a disappointing opening drive by the Lions, Saskatchewan needed just five plays to reach the end zone. A.J. Ouellette opened the scoring with a powerful 15-yard run, followed by a 10-yard connection between Harris and Dohnte Meyers, and then a perfect deep ball from Harris to Meyers for the game’s first touchdown.
Things quickly worsened for the Lions when S. McGee fumbled the kickoff return, giving the Riders excellent field position, which Brett Lauther capitalized on with a 35-yard field goal.
Rourke Struggles to Find His Rhythm
Nathan Rourke, back in the lineup after missing the first matchup between the two teams, struggled in the first half. The Lions’ quarterback came close to being intercepted several times and finished the first half with only 112 passing yards, less than half of Harris’ 234-yard total by halftime.
Despite the slow start, Rourke showed flashes of his talent, including a 13-yard scramble followed by a roughing-the-passer penalty, and later a pinpoint throw on the move to Ayden Eberhardt to cut the deficit to 17–8.
Saskatchewan Extends the Lead
The Roughriders picked up right where they left off after the break, with Harris finding Meyers again for his second touchdown of the night on a 30-yard strike that pushed the lead to 30–11.
Saskatchewan’s offense remained efficient, mixing Ouellette’s runs (72 yards on the ground) with Harris’ precise passing. A concerning moment came when one of the Riders’ running backs was hit hard by Lions linebacker Micah Awe and had to be carted off the field — receiving applause from both teams’ fans in a true show of sportsmanship.
Late-Game Thriller
The Lions made a desperate comeback attempt in the fourth quarter. Rourke connected with Stanley Berryhill on a 14-yard touchdown in the left corner of the end zone, followed by a spectacular two-point conversion where Rourke spun out of a tackle and found Berryhill again with a jump pass.
But a crucial interception by Marcus Sayles sealed the game. Even though Rourke threw another touchdown to Eberhardt with just 22 seconds left, followed by a successful two-point run from James Butler but the Riders recovered the onside kick to secure the win.
BC showed promising flashes, but several missed opportunities, especially on deep balls to open receivers, proved costly despite a strong late-game surge.
Looking Ahead
The BC Lions (3-4) will host the East Division’s second-place Hamilton Tiger-Cats, who are riding a three-game winning streak. Saskatchewan, meanwhile, will face the Edmonton Elks as they look to hold onto their spot atop the West.
