Seattle moves to 3–1 and has now beaten Arizona eight straight times, proving once again they can rise when the moment demands it.

SAM DARNOLD STAYS COOL

Sam Darnold is giving Seattle exactly what they’ve needed: poise and execution. He went 18 of 26 for 242 yards and one touchdown, keeping the offense steady all night.

When the Cardinals tied the game late, Darnold calmly led the final drive.

“He’s just unflappable,” head coach Mike Macdonald said. “When the game speeds up, Sam slows it down. That’s what you want from your quarterback.”

SMITH-NJIGBA ANSWERS THE CALL

Jaxon Smith-Njigba continues to emerge as Seattle’s go-to target. After being held without a catch in the first half, he finished with four receptions for 79 yards, all in high-leverage moments.

On the decisive drive, he snagged a third-down conversion and then a 22-yard gain that set up Myers’ winning kick.

“Honestly, I had no doubt we were going to go down there and score,” Smith-Njigba said. “We just needed a couple plays, and Jason was going to finish it off.”

BALANCE THROUGH THE GROUND GAME

Seattle rushed 35 times for 155 yards, keeping control of the tempo. Kenneth Walker III led with 81 yards on 19 carries, while Zach Charbonnet added 39 yards and a 1-yard touchdown just before halftime.

That commitment to the run allowed the Seahawks to dominate possession (32:24 to 27:36) and kept Arizona’s pass rush from dictating the game.

DEFENSE STRONG, BUT LATE COLLAPSE LOOMS

The Seahawks’ defense set the tone for most of the night. Kyler Murray was held to 200 passing yards on 41 attempts, picked off twice by Ernest Jones IV and Coby Bryant, and sacked six times. Devon Witherspoon recorded nine tackles, and Uchenna Nwosu had two sacks in a disruptive performance.

Yet the fourth quarter nearly unraveled it all. Murray connected with Marvin Harrison Jr. for a touchdown, then found Emari Demercado to tie the game at 20–20 with 33 seconds left. It was the second time in four weeks Seattle’s defense faltered late, something that will remain a concern moving forward.

SPECIAL TEAMS DECIDE IT

Just when overtime felt inevitable, Arizona’s special teams imploded. Chad Ryland’s kickoff fell short of the landing zone, handing Seattle the ball at its own 40. Two completions later — both to Smith-Njigba — Myers stepped up and drilled the game-winning 52-yarder.

“I just trusted my swing,” Myers said. “This team fights until the last second, and I wanted to finish it off for them.”

BIGGER PICTURE

Seattle may still have work to do in closing out games, but the positives outweigh the negatives: a poised quarterback, an emerging star in Smith-Njigba, a productive ground game, and a defense that dominates for long stretches.

The Seahawks proved again that even when the script goes sideways, they have the resilience and playmakers to win.
