Départ canon, deuxième mi-temps compliquée

À 13 minutes de la fin, Kirby Smart a pris un pari décisif : un 4e & 1 sur la ligne des 8 yards d’Alabama. Cash Jones a tenté de forcer le passage, mais LT Overton l’a stoppé net pour une perte de deux yards. Une action qui a glacé le stade et redonné confiance au Crimson Tide.

L’efficacité d’Alabama
Si la Géorgie a dominé au sol, la différence s’est faite ailleurs : Alabama a converti 13 de ses 19 troisièmes tentatives, contre seulement 2 sur 8 pour les Bulldogs. Avec 397 yards offensifs, 35 minutes de possession et zéro turnover, les hommes de Kalen DeBoer ont maîtrisé les détails.
« Nos gars n’ont pas paniqué, ils ont répondu coup pour coup », a salué le coach.
Un message fort
Cette victoire redonne de l’élan au Tide, déjà victorieux de trois matchs d’affilée depuis la défaite initiale face à Florida State. Pour Kirby Smart, c’est une nouvelle désillusion contre Alabama (1–7 dans ses confrontations).
Simpson, lui, a résumé l’état d’esprit : « C’est Alabama contre le monde. Ce soir, on l’a encore prouvé. »
Prochain rendez-vous
Alabama accueillera Vanderbilt (5-0) la semaine prochaine à Tuscaloosa, dans un duel entre deux équipes toujours invaincues en SEC. Les Commodores, qui avaient créé la surprise en faisant tomber le Tide la saison dernière, viendront cette fois avec l’ambition d’affirmer leur statut de révélation.
De son côté, les Bulldogs devront se reprendre face au Kentucky, encore au Sanford Stadium, pour éviter d’enchaîner une deuxième défaite de rang à domicile.

Suddenly, it was 24–21 and the momentum was shifting.
The turning point: a failed 4th down
With 13 minutes to play, Kirby Smart made a bold call on 4th-and-1 at the Alabama 8. Running back Cash Jones tried to push forward, but LT Overton blew through the line for a 2-yard loss. The stop silenced the crowd and swung the momentum back to the Tide.
“That’s a play we’ve executed before, but we missed a key block,” Smart admitted.
Alabama’s efficiency
Although Georgia dominated on the ground, the difference came on third down: Alabama converted 13 of 19 opportunities, while the Bulldogs managed just 2 of 8. The Tide finished with 397 total yards, over 35 minutes of possession, and no turnovers — the type of efficiency Kalen DeBoer has emphasized since his arrival.
“Our guys didn’t panic. They answered every punch,” DeBoer said.
A strong statement
The win extends Alabama’s streak to three straight since their opening loss to Florida State and injects momentum into their season. For Kirby Smart, it was yet another setback against his old program, dropping to 1–7 against the Tide.
Simpson summed up the mood: “It’s Alabama against the world. Tonight we showed it again.”
What’s next
Alabama returns home to host 5-0 Vanderbilt next week in a clash of unbeaten SEC teams. The Commodores, who stunned the Tide last season, will arrive intent on proving they’re more than just an early-season story.
Georgia, meanwhile, must regroup quickly against Kentucky, also at Sanford Stadium, to avoid back-to-back home defeats.
