Dans un retournement de situation spectaculaire, l'Atlanta Dream (5-2) a signé une victoire probante 94- 87 face au Seattle Storm (3-3) au Climate Pledge Arena, renversant complètement la tendance d'un match que les locales semblaient pourtant maîtriser.

Un démarrage canon pour Seattle

Le Storm avait pourtant pris les devants de manière autoritaire en première période en ouvrant le bal par un 10-2. Portées par une Erica Wheeler inspirée dans son premier match comme titulaire sous le maillot de Seattle, les joueuses de Noelle Quinn ont rapidement creusé l'écart. Wheeler, qui remplaçait Alysha Clark forfait, a immédiatement marqué son territoire avec 4 points et 4 passes décisives dès le premier quart, attaquant la raquette avec détermination malgré la présence de plusieurs défenseuses.

In a thrilling comeback, the Atlanta Dream (5-2) defeat the Seattle Storm (3-3) 94-87 at Climate Pledge Arena, overturning a game that had seemed firmly in Seattle's hands.

A ROARING START FOR SEATTLE

Seattle came out firing, opening the game with a commanding 10-2 run. Energized by Erica Wheeler, who made her first start in a Storm jersey, Noelle Quinn’s squad quickly built momentum. Filling in for the injured Alysha Clark, Wheeler immediately made her presence felt with 4 points and 4 assists in the first quarter, fearlessly attacking the paint despite heavy defensive pressure.

Skylar Diggins and Nneka Ogwumike efficiently ran the Storm offense, helping the team close out the first quarter with a 23-15 lead, fueled by aggressive defense that produced four steals and a rebounding advantage (12-8).

But the Dream weren’t done yet. Led by a sensational Rhyne Howard, Atlanta slowly chipped away at the deficit. The third quarter was a turning point, as the Dream erupted for 29 points and cut the gap to just three (66-63).

Even though Seattle started the half strong with a 6-0 spurt from Diggins, Wheeler, and Ogwumike, Atlanta found its rhythm. Howard nailed 6 straight points, while Brionna Jones added back-to-back buckets and sank two free throws to keep the Dream within striking distance.

A NIGHTMARE FINISH FOR THE STORM

The fourth quarter was a nightmare for Seattle. Atlanta tied the game at 66 with nine minutes to go, and took the lead for the first time on two Allisha Gray free throws (70-72).

Rhyne Howard then completely took over, delivering clutch plays down the stretch. Her dagger three-pointer with 1:27 left extended Atlanta’s lead to nine, crushing any hopes of a Seattle comeback.
