ORLANDO, Floride — Old Dominion a parfaitement conclu sa saison mercredi soir en s’imposant 24–10 face à South Florida lors du StaffDNA Cure Bowl, disputé au Camping World Stadium. Portés par une domination au sol et une défense opportuniste, les Monarchs ont renversé le match après la pause pour signer une dixième victoire en 2025.

Le quarterback redshirt freshman Quinn Henicle a été la pièce maîtresse du plan de jeu d’Old Dominion. Très sollicité à la course, il a cumulé 107 yards et deux touchdowns sur 24 portées, dont une course décisive de 51 yards sur troisième tentative à 2:24 de la fin pour sceller définitivement le score. Dans les airs, Henicle a complété 11 passes sur 25 pour 127 yards, sans interception.

Old Dominion (10–3) a imposé un net avantage physique, terminant la rencontre avec 255 yards au sol sur 55 courses. Devin Roche a apporté une contribution majeure avec 100 yards sur 19 courses, tandis que Trequan Jones a ajouté 56 yards et un touchdown sur huit portées.

South Florida (9–4) a ouvert le score sur un field goal de 28 yards de Nico Gramatica, avant qu’Old Dominion ne réponde par une course de six yards de Henicle en fin de premier quart-temps. Les Bulls ont brièvement pris l’avantage au deuxième quart grâce à une passe de touchdown de 31 yards de Gaston Moore vers Jeremiah Koger, rejoignant la mi-temps avec un léger avantage de 10–7.

Le tournant du match est intervenu dès la reprise. Une interception de Jerome Carter, retournée jusqu’aux 25 yards de South Florida, a immédiatement été convertie en touchdown sur une course de 22 yards de Trequan Jones. L’incertitude plane d’ailleurs sur l’avenir du poste à Tampa : Brown pourrait rejoindre le transfer portal, une possibilité renforcée par le départ de l’ancien entraîneur Alex Golesh, désormais à Auburn.

Malgré 236 yards à la passe de Moore et une solide prestation de Christian Neptune (10 réceptions, 102 yards), South Florida a été limité à 52 yards au sol et a concédé quatre interceptions et un ballon perdu, permettant à Old Dominion de terminer la rencontre sur 17 points sans réponse.

Cette victoire offre aux Monarchs leur deuxième saison à dix succès et leur premier titre au Cure Bowl sous la direction de Ricky Rahne, symbole d’une progression désormais bien établie.

ORLANDO, Florida — Old Dominion closed its season in convincing fashion Wednesday night, defeating South Florida 24–10 in the StaffDNA Cure Bowl at Camping World Stadium. Powered by a dominant rushing attack and a timely defensive performance, the Monarchs took control after halftime to secure their 10th win of the season.

Redshirt freshman quarterback Quinn Henicle was the centerpiece of Old Dominion’s game plan. He carried the ball 24 times for 107 yards and two touchdowns, punctuating his night with a decisive 51-yard touchdown run on third down with 2:24 remaining to seal the outcome. Through the air, Henicle completed 11 of 25 passes for 127 yards without an interception.

Old Dominion (10–3) controlled the line of scrimmage throughout the night, finishing with 255 rushing yards on 55 attempts. Devin Roche added 100 yards on 19 carries, while Trequan Jones chipped in 56 yards and a touchdown on eight rushes.

South Florida (9–4) struck first with a 28-yard field goal by Nico Gramatica, before Old Dominion answered late in the opening quarter on a six-yard scoring run by Henicle. The Bulls briefly regained the lead in the second quarter when Gaston Moore connected with Jeremiah Koger on a 31-yard touchdown pass, sending South Florida into halftime with a 10–7 advantage.

The momentum shifted immediately after the break. Jerome Carter intercepted Moore on the opening drive of the third quarter, returning the ball to the South Florida 25-yard line. Three plays later, Trequan Jones powered in from 22 yards out. Nathaniel Eichner later added a 24-yard field goal to give the Monarchs a seven-point cushion heading into the fourth quarter.

Short-handed offensively, South Florida struggled to find rhythm after halftime without starting quarterback Byrum Brown. Uncertainty now surrounds the position moving forward, as Brown could enter the transfer portal following the departure of former head coach Alex Golesh to Auburn.

Despite 236 passing yards from Moore and a strong performance by Christian Neptune, who caught 10 passes for 102 yards, the Bulls were limited to 52 rushing yards and committed five turnovers, allowing Old Dominion to close the game with 17 unanswered points.

The victory marks Old Dominion’s second 10-win season and its first Cure Bowl title under head coach Ricky Rahne, further cementing the program’s steady rise.
