Sans Dante Moore, Oregon s'offre USC au Coliseum
Le choc du Top 25 de la Big Ten entre USC et Oregon a tourné à l'avantage des Ducks, vainqueurs 41-27 au Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum. Une victoire nette au tableau d'affichage, mais payée au prix fort : le quarterback titulaire Dante Moore a quitté le terrain en ambulance au deuxième quart-temps après un plaquage violent.
Il y avait beaucoup en jeu dans ce duel entre les Ducks, classés n°20, et les Trojans, n°12. USC arrivait invaincu (4-0) et voulait confirmer son statut de prétendant. Oregon avait besoin de se relancer après sa défaite du 12 septembre face à Oklahoma State (39-31). Ce revers avait poussé Dante Moore à réunir ses coéquipiers entre joueurs, sans le staff. La réponse sur le terrain a été à la hauteur, mais elle a coûté cher.
Un début de match fermé
Le premier quart-temps a été avare en points. Seul le kicker d'Oregon, Gage Hurych, a trouvé la cible sur un field goal de 30 yards, pour mener 3-0. USC a répliqué dès l'entame du deuxième quart : Jayden Maiava a trouvé K. Dixon-Wyatt sur une passe de 31 yards pour le premier touchdown du match, et les Trojans sont passés devant, 7-3.
Le plaquage qui a tout fait basculer
C'est alors que le match a pris une tournure dramatique. Parti balle en main, Moore a tenté de se protéger en glissant au sol, mais Desman Stephens II l'a percuté tardivement à la tête. Les arbitres ont sanctionné l'action sur-le-champ, et les deux bancs se sont rués sur la pelouse.
Après revue vidéo, Stephens a été exclu pour targeting, et les deux équipes ont été pénalisées pour l'altercation qui a suivi. Moore a été pris en charge un long moment sur le terrain avant de quitter le Coliseum en ambulance, direction l'hôpital. Au moment de ces lignes, Oregon n'avait pas communiqué sur la gravité de sa blessure.
Raiola prend le relais
C'est donc Dylan Raiola qui a pris le relais. Ancien cinq étoiles, il a rejoint les Ducks après 23 titularisations en deux saisons à Nebraska. Clin d'œil du destin : sa saison 2025 s'était terminée sur une fracture du péroné droit, subie lors d'une défaite face à… USC, le 1er novembre dernier.
L'impact a été immédiat. Deux actions après son entrée, Raiola a trouvé Evan Stewart, qui a filé jusqu'à l'en-but pour un touchdown de 3 yards. Oregon reprenait l'avantage, 10-7.
USC a recollé grâce à un field goal de 38 yards de Caden Chittenden (10-10). Raiola a alors conduit une longue marche de 16 jeux et 75 yards, qui a laissé une seule seconde à l'horloge avant la pause. Hurych a conclu d'un field goal de 19 yards : 13-10 à la mi-temps pour les Ducks.
Dierre Hill porte l'attaque
Le troisième quart-temps a été celui de Dierre Hill. Dès le retour des vestiaires, Raiola lui a transmis une passe courte que le coureur a transformée en gain de 62 yards. Hill a lui-même conclu la série d'une course d'un yard (20-10). USC a riposté aussitôt, Maiava marquant sur une course d'un yard (20-17). Hill a de nouveau frappé, cette fois sur 4 yards (27-17), avant qu'un field goal de 29 yards de Chittenden ne ramène les Trojans à sept points (27-20).
Raiola fait basculer le match
USC n'a rien lâché. À 12:47 du terme, Maiava a trouvé Tanook Hines pour un touchdown de 11 yards : 27-27, et le Coliseum s'est remis à y croire. Mais les Ducks ont gardé leur sang-froid. Profitant d'une pénalité adverse qui a prolongé leur possession, ils ont repris l'avantage quand Raiola a trouvé Dakorien Moore dans la zone d'en-but sur 29 yards : 34-27 à 8:43 de la fin.
La défense d'Oregon a ensuite fait la différence en stoppant USC sur un quatrième essai et 7 yards. Jordon Davison a scellé l'affaire d'une course de 2 yards à 2:11 de la fin (41-27), un touchdown confirmé après visionnage. Obligés de marquer vite, les Trojans ont vu leur dernière tentative interceptée par Koi Perich.

Oregon a totalisé 504 yards (366 à la passe, 138 à la course) contre 446 pour USC. Les quarterbacks des Ducks ont complété 27 de leurs 35 passes pour 2 touchdowns, sans interception ni sack concédé, et l'équipe n'a perdu aucun ballon de la soirée. Côté USC, les passeurs ont réussi 23 passes sur 42 pour 326 yards, 2 touchdowns et une interception, et ont subi deux sacks. Le temps de possession a été parfaitement équilibré (31:25 contre 31:23).

Avec ce succès de prestige, Oregon passe à 3-1 (1-0 en Big Ten), efface la déception d'Oklahoma State et signe une victoire majeure pour la suite de sa saison. USC concède sa première défaite de la saison (4-1).
À Eugene, pourtant, la joie restera suspendue au bulletin médical de Dante Moore. Les Ducks savent désormais qu'ils disposent, avec Raiola, d'une solution de secours plus que crédible. Oregon, qui n'a pas de match au calendrier le 3 octobre, recevra UCLA le 10 octobre.

A tight start
The first quarter offered few points. Only Oregon kicker Gage Hurych found the mark, with a 30-yard field goal for a 3-0 lead. USC answered early in the second quarter: Jayden Maiava connected with K. Dixon-Wyatt on a 31-yard pass for the game's first touchdown, and the Trojans went ahead 7-3.
The hit that changed everything
That's when the game took a dramatic turn. After taking off with the ball, Moore tried to protect himself by sliding, but Desman Stephens II hit him late. Officials flagged the play immediately, and both benches spilled onto the field.
After video review, Stephens was ejected for targeting, and both teams were penalized for the scuffle that followed. Moore was attended to on the field for an extended period before leaving the Coliseum in an ambulance for the hospital. As of this writing, Oregon had not provided an update on the severity of his injury.
Raiola takes over
That left Dylan Raiola to step in. A former five-star recruit, he joined the Ducks after 23 starts over two seasons at Nebraska. In a twist of fate, his 2025 season ended with a broken right fibula suffered in a loss to… USC, on Nov. 1.
The impact was immediate. Two plays after entering, Raiola found Evan Stewart, who raced into the end zone for a 3-yard touchdown. Oregon was back in front, 10-7.
USC drew level on a 38-yard field goal by Caden Chittenden (10-10). Raiola then led a 16-play, 75-yard drive that left just one second on the clock before halftime. Hurych capped it with a 19-yard field goal: 13-10 Ducks at the break.
Dierre Hill carries the offense
The third quarter belonged to Dierre Hill. Right out of the locker room, Raiola hit him with a short pass that the running back turned into a 62-yard gain. Hill finished the drive himself with a 1-yard run (20-10). USC hit back right away, with Maiava scoring on a 1-yard run (20-17). Hill struck again, this time from 4 yards out (27-17), before a 29-yard field goal by Chittenden pulled the Trojans within seven (27-20).
Raiola tips the balance
USC kept fighting. With 12:47 remaining, Maiava found Tanook Hines for an 11-yard touchdown: 27-27, and the Coliseum believed again. But the Ducks kept their composure. Taking advantage of a USC penalty that extended their possession, they regained the lead when Raiola found Dakorien Moore in the end zone from 29 yards out: 34-27 with 8:43 to play.
Oregon's defense then made the difference by stopping USC on fourth-and-7. Jordon Davison sealed it with a 2-yard run with 2:11 left (41-27), a touchdown upheld on review. Needing to score quickly, the Trojans saw their final attempt intercepted by Koi Perich.

In Eugene, however, the celebration will hinge on Dante Moore's medical update. The Ducks now know they have, in Raiola, a more than credible backup option. Oregon, which has no game scheduled for Oct. 3, hosts UCLA on Oct. 10.
