Top 25 : Florida humilie Ole Miss, Iowa crucifie Michigan au buzzer
Un n°4 balayé, un n°1 qui tremble jusqu'au bout, un touchdown sur le dernier jeu du match et un quarterback vedette évacué en ambulance : la quatrième semaine de la saison de football universitaire a été l'une des plus riches depuis la reprise. Texas survit à Knoxville
Le n°1 a vacillé, mais il est toujours debout. Texas s'est imposé 20-17 sur le terrain du n°14 Tennessee, dans un match où les défenses ont tout dominé. Les deux équipes ont gagné moins de 265 yards chacune (262 pour Texas, 221 pour Tennessee). La défense des Longhorns a réussi 10 sacks et a limité les Volunteers à 70 yards à la course sur 44 tentatives.
Raleek Brown a ouvert le score sur une course de 9 yards dès le premier quart-temps, et Gianni Spetic a ajouté un field goal de 22 yards pour porter l'avance à 10-3. Tennessee a égalisé au troisième quart-temps grâce à Qua Moss, auteur d'un retour de punt de 57 yards jusqu'à l'en-but. Spetic a redonné l'avantage aux Longhorns d'un field goal de 44 yards, puis Brown a marqué son deuxième touchdown sur 4 yards à 5:41 de la fin (20-10).
Les Volunteers ont réduit l'écart sur une passe de 30 yards de Faizon Brandon pour Mike Matthews à 1:22 du terme, puis ont récupéré le ballon sur le kickoff suivant, mal négocié par Texas. Leur dernière série s'est toutefois arrêtée dans le camp texan. Texas reste invaincu (4-0) malgré 11 pénalités pour 115 yards et six sacks concédés. Tennessee (3-1) reçoit Auburn le 3 octobre.

Florida écrase Ole Miss
C'est la grosse surprise du jour. Classé n°21, Florida a infligé un 52-28 au n°4 Ole Miss à Gainesville. Les Gators ont couru pour 302 yards et six touchdowns, pour un total de 498 yards.
Jadan Baugh a ouvert le score sur 4 yards, Patrick Durkin a ajouté un field goal de 39 yards, puis Baugh a récidivé avant la pause (17-6). Ole Miss est revenu à 17-14 au retour des vestiaires : Trinidad Chambliss a marqué à la course, puis les Rebels ont réussi la transformation à deux points.
Duke Clark a répondu aussitôt par une course de 45 yards jusqu'à l'en-but. Chambliss a de nouveau ramené les Rebels à trois points (24-21).
Florida a alors passé un 28-7 à son adversaire. Aaron Philo a marqué à la course, Dallas Wilson a ajouté un touchdown de 6 yards, puis Philo a lancé une passe de touchdown de 5 yards pour Amir Jackson. Baugh a conclu la soirée avec son troisième touchdown. Florida passe à 4-0, Ole Miss subit sa première défaite (3-1). Les Gators se déplacent à Missouri le 3 octobre.

Oregon gagne à USC mais perd Dante Moore
Le n°20 Oregon s'est imposé 41-27 au Coliseum face au n°12 USC, jusque-là invaincu. Le quarterback Dante Moore a quitté le match en ambulance au deuxième quart-temps après un coup tardif à la tête de Desman Stephens II, exclu pour targeting. Son remplaçant Dylan Raiola a lancé deux passes de touchdown, et Dierre Hill a marqué deux fois à la course. Les Ducks passent à 3-1.

Iowa gagne sur le dernier jeu du match
Au Michigan Stadium, le n°17 Iowa s'est imposé 20-19 face au n°18 Michigan grâce à un touchdown inscrit sur l'ultime action : sur un quatrième essai à deux secondes du terme, Hank Brown a trouvé Reece Vander Zee sur 16 yards.
Les Hawkeyes avaient pourtant été dominés. Michigan a gagné 429 yards contre 285, et Iowa n'a couru que pour 58 yards. Mais les visiteurs ont frappé sur les grands jeux. Dès le premier quart-temps, Braeden Jackson a répondu au touchdown de JJ Buchanan par un retour de kickoff de 99 yards.
Deux field goals de Trey Butkowski ont ensuite donné l'avantage aux Wolverines (13-7). En début de quatrième quart, Brown et Vander Zee ont fait passer Iowa devant (14-13), mais Bryce Underwood a répliqué sur une passe de 49 yards pour Buchanan. Sans transformation réussie, Michigan n'a mené que 19-14, un écart que les Hawkeyes ont su combler. Iowa reste invaincu (4-0) et reçoit Ohio State le 3 octobre.
Ohio State déroule face à Illinois
Le n°7 Ohio State a battu Illinois 42-19. Julian Sayin a lancé quatre passes de touchdown, toutes pour Jeremiah Smith (7, 72, 9 et 26 yards), et a ajouté un touchdown à la course. Il a complété 27 passes sur 36 pour 367 yards, sans interception.
Illinois a pourtant gagné 462 yards, dont 199 à la course, avec notamment un touchdown de 22 yards de Jordan Anderson. Mais les Fighting Illini ont dû se contenter de deux field goals, et la défense des Buckeyes les a stoppés sur un quatrième essai à sa ligne des 20 alors que le score était de 28-13. Ohio State passe à 3-1.
Wisconsin renverse Penn State
Mené 17-0 au deuxième quart-temps à State College, Wisconsin a fait tomber le n°13 Penn State (24-20). Le début de match avait tourné au cauchemar pour Colton Joseph, dont une passe a été interceptée et retournée en touchdown par Josiah Zayas, avant que Rocco Becht ne marque à la course.
Joseph a réduit l'écart à la course avant la pause, puis Gavin Lahm a ajouté un field goal. Toujours menés 20-10 dans le dernier quart, les Badgers ont frappé deux fois : Joseph a trouvé Eugene Hilton Jr. à 3:31 de la fin (20-17), puis Jacob Harris sur 72 yards à 1:13 du terme. Intercepté trois fois, Joseph a malgré tout eu le dernier mot. La défense de Wisconsin a limité Penn State à 233 yards. Les Badgers (3-1) reçoivent Michigan State, tandis que Penn State concède sa première défaite (3-1).
Alabama et Mississippi State filent vers leur choc
Le n°8 Alabama a écrasé South Carolina 49-18 après avoir inscrit 35 points en première période. Keelon Russell a lancé quatre passes de touchdown : 75 yards pour Lotzeir Brooks, 32 et 42 yards pour Ryan Coleman-Williams, et une dernière pour Josh Ford. Il a ajouté un touchdown à la course de 9 yards, et Red Morgan a signé un pick-six de 23 yards.
Le n°24 Mississippi State a dû s'employer davantage face au n°19 Missouri (31-24).
Kamario Taylor avait lancé les Bulldogs avec deux passes de touchdown au premier quart-temps (14-0). Austin Simmons a ensuite lancé trois passes de touchdown pour Missouri, dont deux pour Cayden Lee, et les Tigers menaient 24-17 après trois quarts-temps. Fluff Bothwell a égalisé à la course, puis Taylor a retrouvé Sanfrisco Magee dans l'en-but à un peu moins de quatre minutes de la fin.
Les deux équipes, à 4-0, s'affrontent le 3 octobre à Starkville.
LSU étouffe Texas A&M
Le n°10 LSU a dominé le n°23 Texas A&M 35-6. Dilin Jones a ouvert le score d'une course d'un yard, puis tout s'est joué au troisième quart-temps, remporté 21-3. Sam Leavitt a lancé deux passes de touchdown pour Jackson Harris (16 et 57 yards) et Landen Clark a marqué deux fois à la course.
La défense des Tigers n'a encaissé aucun touchdown, et le quarterback des Aggies, Marcel Reed, n'a complété que 10 passes sur 26. LSU (3-1) reçoit McNeese le 3 octobre, Texas A&M tombe à 2-2.
Utah s'impose à Iowa State
Le n°15 Utah a battu Iowa State 31-17 à Ames. Wayshawn Parker a marqué trois touchdowns : une course de 54 yards sur le premier jeu du match, une course d'un yard avant la pause et une réception de 13 yards de Devon Dampier en fin de match. Menés 24-3 à la mi-temps, les Cyclones sont revenus à 24-17 grâce à Jaylen Raynor, sans jamais égaliser.
Les Utes ont couru pour 205 yards et intercepté deux passes. Ils restent invaincus (4-0) et reçoivent Kansas le 10 octobre.
Louisville trébuche
Le n°16 Louisville s'est incliné à domicile face à Wake Forest (30-27). Les deux équipes ont échangé les coups en première période, avec notamment deux touchdowns à la course de Ty Clark III et une passe de 77 yards de Gio Lopez pour Carlos Hernandez côté Demon Deacons. Lincoln Kienholz a marqué deux fois à la course et trouvé Jaleel Skinner sur 61 yards pour les Cardinals.
Le match s'est ensuite joué au pied. Carson Hilbert a égalisé d'un field goal de 54 yards pour Louisville (27-27), mais Connor Calvert a réussi le field goal de la victoire à 6:20 de la fin, son troisième de la soirée. Les Cardinals n'ont gagné que 75 yards à la course. Ils tombent à 2-2 et se déplacent à NC State le 3 octobre.

Texas survives in Knoxville
The No. 1 team wobbled but is still standing. Texas won 20-17 at No. 14 Tennessee in a game dominated by both defenses. Neither team reached 265 yards (262 for Texas, 221 for Tennessee). The Longhorns defense piled up 10 sacks and held the Volunteers to 70 rushing yards on 44 attempts.

Florida overwhelms Ole Miss
This was the biggest surprise of the day. No. 21 Florida handed No. 4 Ole Miss a 52-28 beating in Gainesville. The Gators rushed for 302 yards and six touchdowns on the way to 498 total yards.
Jadan Baugh opened the scoring from 4 yards out, Patrick Durkin added a 39-yard field goal, and Baugh scored again before halftime (17-6). Ole Miss pulled within 17-14 after the break when Trinidad Chambliss ran in a touchdown and the Rebels converted the two-point try. Duke Clark answered right away with a 45-yard touchdown run. Chambliss again brought the Rebels within three (24-21).
Florida then outscored its opponent 28-7. Aaron Philo ran for a score, Dallas Wilson added a 6-yard touchdown, and Philo threw a 5-yard touchdown pass to Amir Jackson. Baugh capped the night with his third touchdown. Florida improves to 4-0, while Ole Miss suffers its first loss (3-1). The Gators visit Missouri on Oct. 3.

Oregon wins at USC but loses Dante Moore
No. 20 Oregon won 41-27 at the Coliseum against No. 12 USC, previously unbeaten. Quarterback Dante Moore left the game in an ambulance in the second quarter after a late hit to the head by Desman Stephens II, who was ejected for targeting. Backup Dylan Raiola threw two touchdown passes, and Dierre Hill ran for two scores. The Ducks improve to 3-1.

Iowa wins on the final play
At Michigan Stadium, No. 17 Iowa beat No. 18 Michigan 20-19 with a touchdown on the last play of the game: on fourth down with two seconds left, Hank Brown found Reece Vander Zee for a 16-yard score.
The Hawkeyes had been outplayed for long stretches. Michigan outgained them 429 yards to 285, and Iowa managed just 58 rushing yards. But the visitors struck on big plays. In the first quarter, Braeden Jackson answered a JJ Buchanan touchdown with a 99-yard kickoff return.
Two field goals by Trey Butkowski then put the Wolverines ahead (13-7).
